Prince William Shares Devastating Update On King Charles’ Cancer Battle

Prince William has shared a devastating update on King Charles‘ cancer battle one year on from his diagnosis.
While King Charles has been particularly vocal about his recent battle with cancer, alongside Kate Middleton who was also diagnosed in the same year, one senior royal who hasn’t spoken too publicly is Prince William.
It’s safe to say that 2024 was a tough year for him, with two of the prince’s immediate family members being diagnosed with the disease, and explaining such circumstances to their small children.
He balanced royal duty with being a present father-of-three, a caring husband, and an attentive son, and it seems the 43-year-old has finally started to reflect on it.
In a candid conversation with actor Eugene Levy for Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler, he opened up about what the past year was like for him, and how they handled it as a family.
Prince William focused particularly on the health of his father, after King Charles recently noted that he wasn’t doing ‘too bad’ at a public engagement.
His Majesty noted that ‘half the problem is detecting it in time’ and added of the illness: “The great thing I think is they’re getting better and better.”
But William gave some fresh insight from his perspective.
“Life is sent to test us, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are,” the thoughtful future monarch noted.
“Honestly? It’s been dreadful,” he added
From a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”
While he praised both his wife and father for their bravery throughout the ‘very difficult’ journey, he acknowledged the toll remains heavy.
And while it has been made known that Kate is in remission from her cancer treatment, the royal family is still navigating the long road of recovery.
King Charles, as far as we know, remains under ongoing outpatient care for his undisclosed form of cancer.
And it seems the decision not to reveal the specifics of his cancer was well thought-through.
A source told The Times in 2024: “The king’s decision not to reveal the type of cancer was a conscious choice to be able to reach out to the widest number of people who are experiencing the disease, rather than narrow the focus onto a particular form of cancer.”
