Trump stepped up his administration’s immigration enforcement efforts by signing three executive orders. “Protecting American communities from criminal aliens” targets sanctuary cities that the administration believes aren’t cooperating enough with immigration crackdowns. Another order provides legal defense for police accused of misconduct and the third requires professional truck drivers to speak English.
Also on Monday:
Trump said he was putting together a council to review the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema). In a Truth Social post, the president said that this council will “work hard to fix a terribly broken System”. Fema’s mission is to help Americans struck by disasters, such as floods, hurricanes and fires.
