Marshawn Kneeland’s death is a stark reminder of the mental-health pressures athletes may face, even when visibly succeeding on the field. In a statement, the Cowboys organization said, “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.” His agent, Jonathan Perzley, confirmed the heartbreaking news, saying, “I am shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night.”

Drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Kneeland was praised for his energy, focus, and resilience. His final social media post in January referenced the anime Cyberpunk, symbolizing his desire to live out his late mother’s dream.
In fact, just days before his death, on November 3, the 24-year-old defensive end had scored his first NFL touchdown by recovering a blocked punt in a game vs the Arizona Cardinals, that had teammates celebrating his breakout moment.
